So you have an unlocked iPhone4 from Apple Store. Just keep in mind that the device doesn't come with a sim. And you can not use your normal sim because of smaller form factor micro sim. At the time of this post, only Three Mobile is offering a free micro sim for iPhone4. You have a choice whether you want a rolling monthly contract with the sim or just plain pay as you go.
I searched the internet and found out that you can cut out some of the normal sim's edges and can fashion it into a micro sim. I did and I was successful in my attempt. These were my steps by just using a blue tack, cardboard, permanent marking pen or ball pen, and normal scissors.
I took off the iPhone4's sim holder and placed a blue tack allover the holder, so that the space where the micro sim makes an image of the real size and dimension of it. I cut off the blue tack and placed it over a cardboard to make a micro sim template, then cut the cardboard. I placed the cardboard template over the normal sim (facing up, with the metallic bits)and marked it out with a permanent marking pen. Making into consideration that the template is 2mm higher than the base of the normal sim and 2mm inner than the left side of the sim. Cut it out and smoothen the edges and you're finished. You can cut out and use any pay as you go sim cards from any providers, from any countries! Check out pay as you go rates with internet bundles from Carphonewarehouse, Dialaphone, E2Save, and Phones4U!
If you are into a monthly mobile contract and is not confident if you can do it with the improvised method, trust me you can, you can buy a micro sim cutter at amazon or ebay for as low as £6. It is like a paper puncher, just put in your sim card and you're done in 2 seconds. The Cheapest Way to Own iPhone 4
It's Christmas and there's an excuse to buy an expensive and popular gadget like the iPhone4. The only problem is the cost of owning it is quite expensive and more than the other mobile competitors. And with a monthly contract, it can cost you at least £800 for the next 2 years. The lowest line rental will give you at least 75 minutes free talk time, 250 text, and 500MB of internet data in a month for 18 months. Line rental is at £30pm and you need to fork out £215 upright, bringing the total price to at least £759.
The simpliest solution is to buy it upfront. With a one time £499, or if you do not have cash then charge it to your credit card, you have an iPhone4 16GB, and the best part is, it is UNLOCKED! Where? Apple store of course.
Going personally to the Apple Store at Westfields Shepperd's Bush was a disapointment, as they explained that we need to make reservation and can collect the item within a week or more. |So I bought online The wife is amazed on 2 days delivery from the day it was ordered online. That means, you can put in any sim card from any country, any operator and so on. You can also save money on internet tariff as pay as you go operators are giving away free internet access of at least 150MB that expires in 3 months. Other operators like Carphonewarehouse, Phones4U, Dialaphone can give you iPhone4 with no upfront cost for £45 per month for 2 years! Take note that even though you buy them with monthly tariffs, the iPhone is locked and you will need to contact your operator to unlock it. You're considerring jail breaking them? Don't as it may go bricked when you update your device. It's only £15 to unlock it legally, and you don't have to worry about something going wrong.
Unlocking your iPhone when bought other than Apple Store might also be a hassle. You might probably pay a fee which is at least £15 to let your network unlock your phone. And not like the usual number unlock code, your operator will give you a text when to connect your iphone to your itunes as the unlocking process will be in a form of an update through the itunes.

Auction is also a good source of low priced iPhone4 but there's nothing like the legitimate and worry free source.

This phone is free for pay monthly custo mers and comes with free gifts as well. See more offers at Dialaphone .The form, weight, and specifications are worth more than it's price, and will make as a good present this Xmas. The first link will also give you one 2GB micro sd and 4GB microsd, and no top up require d compared to the other online shops. If you can find any cheaper, please inform me.
The phone is perfect, but I had a hard time on one of the settings. The problem is internet access through wifi. The unit can identify and connect straight away to any router but when you connect it to the internet using the native internet access or the applications that use internet, it still uses the mobile networks 3G access to go to a web page. Even how many times I tweeked the settings, the choices and the menus and submenus do not have WiFi or WLAN as a choice in connecting the device into the web. One forum says to update the unit but the update connection uses packet data which means uses the GPRS or 3G connection which means the device always bypasses the wifi connection. As my sim card has no credit yet, I was not able to do so, I can not update the device through wifi or can do any internet thing yet!
I used the opera browser and tried to access OVI on it, but it says it is not compatible with Opera browser!
I installed the Nokia suite to my computer and tried to update my phone and hoping to update OVI as well. The phone update went well.

THE SIMPLE SOLUTION
The Nokia Account OVI(Menu, Settings, Nokia Account, OVI) under settings, which is free to use with my present network(vo......), gave me hope as it lets me choose to connect to wifi rather than wap, 3g or GPRS. After creating an account, I went to the stores and access OVI stores (Menu, Stores, Shop OVI), which did lets me choose wifi again! I downloaded some free games, and ringtones then came across opera web mini (type in Opera under search), a web browser!!! I had a feeling this will do the trick as it is not a native application of the device. After firing up Opera, it lets me choose wifi to my delight! The native web browser uses my data network connection and there's no way that it chooses wifi, but this free app lets me choose my free access!! So next time you stumble upon a phone that ignores your free wifi, download a free web browser!
As I am writing this, I came across a problem with this device.
I can not proceed to OVI stores.
The application opens when I click it, but it says I need to download the update before proceeding. When I click download, it says I need to subscribe to a data bundle. I bought data bundle but the annoying part is it says, it is not compatible with my device!

I installed the Nokia suite to my computer and tried to update my phone and hoping to update OVI as well. The phone update went well.
Then I went to OVI Store to update the OVI store software but the site says, Nokia C3-00 is not supported.
There are still at least 30 applications within the OVI store for the Nokia C3-00, the only annoying bit is, you can not download and transfer them to your phone using the USB.
You need to send the applications link by text to your mobile which is free, but your phone will use the data allowance you have in your phone's sim to download and install the application. The link will not work with wi-fi!
I am not sure with other networks, I think this is a mobile network issue. As this phone is a pay as you go phone and tied to my vo....... network.
I rest my case on this one, I've given away the phone. If you have the Opera browser before the new OVI store took effect, then you are in luck, as the new OVI no longer support Nokia C3-00. The Opera mini browser still works through wifi even without a credit or sim card inserted.
