How to Watch Satellite Subscription Programs Free Of Charge

Entertainment comes with a price. Even the very basic of home entertainment using TV is not free. In my location we pay a license to own one and another subscription to top up the free to view channels to watch decent programs. And depending on the package, it could mean a hefty chunk of the monthly budget.

But with the high speed internet already available, coupled with gadgets and brilliant apps makers, it could mean some savings to your monthly entertainment budget for some popcorn during a marathon movie night.

Here's what you need and how to set-up.

• An android tablet or mobile phone with at least OS 4.1 (Jellybean) or above. The latest is better. You can check the OS by going to Settings>General>About Device>Android Version

• Using your android mobile phone, download the application at https://www.mobdro.com/ . Do not stray away from this site as the others will lead you to a never ending link of advertising. See screenshot of the site below and click download the app.

• Once dowloaded and before hitting install, make sure that your device is authorized to install unknown applications by going to Settings>General>Security>and tick Unknown Sources

• And also make sure that the minimum requirement Android 4.1 or above is onboard your mobile or tablet.Otherwise a parse error message will display and the installation will not be complete.

• Successful installation will not ask you for additional setup and will work straight away. Now you can enjoy a wide variety of cable and satellite programs from movies to sports and other international channels for free.

Watch TV and Movies on Smartphones and PC's Part 2

Here's the second part of how to watch live TV on your PC and smartphone. If you've done the instructions on part 1 and already running XBMC media center, then install this add on. This will give you a tidier interface of watching contents like Movies, Television Shows, HD Content, 3D Content, International TV's, Live Streams, Sports and Events, Documentaries, Adventure and Children’s Content.  It is not native within the application so point your browser to

You can use this link to use with laptop and smartphone. The key to no sweat installation is you know where the downloaded file is.

PC's and Laptops

 Download the zip file and remember the download destination. Don't do anything yet at this point. Open up XBMC and go to systems menu. Click the systems menu (encircled) or settings submenu, to get you into the add on browser, 

Click add-ons, install from zip file, C:(Systems) then navigate to where the downloaded file is. If you have not changed the default destination folder for downloads, go to this path, C:(system), users, click your user name, downloads, then look for this folder repository.superrepo.org.frodo.all-0.2.1

Once installed, go back to systems and click the settings menu, get add ons(1) then choose Super Repo(2). This will add mash up in the list of video add ons. Now go to Videos and hit add ons(3), click get more(4) and click mash up(5) and Install it. Mash up will then be ready to use. Click on it(6) to get into the interface.

Watch Live TV

Click live, then my country, choose which country to watch TV from. Existing channels will be shown. 

With mash up, you can now watch live TV. OFW's like me can now watch GMA 7 and ABS-CBN without subscription. The only downside is, you need to watch programs at the same time they are aired. Time difference might be a problem because you'll be up awake at midnight watching a show for a morning breakfast. For the OFW's this is for you.

Watch ABSCBN News Video Before Going Live at the Website.

The sudden change at the site interface of ABSCBN site has been bundled with problems experienced by the users. Comments like the site takes sometime to load, the video resolution is crap, and the upload for new contents are very late. I do agree on these and I myself  prefer the earlier interface.

But did you know that you can actually watch the video for the day before the webmasters update the video posts at the new website? Yes you can with a simple tweak from the old code from the old website using the original video player which is windows media player!!!

Below are the few complaints about late uploading from the raged subscribers.

Here's how you can do it.

1. Go to the old website's news section  address at http://tfcnow.abs-cbn.com/index_news.aspx and just close the migration advisory dialogue. You can see that there is an old post from yesterday, August 14, and  it has not been updated yet. See my computer clock and date, They have not updated yet although it is now around 5pm in the UK. I agree to the complaints, the website's update is late!

2. Right click the LOW bandwith selection and click copy link address, if you are using other browsers, the dialogue might say copy URL.

3. Then open up windows media player and right click any empty space from the top of the player, then click FILE, OPEN URL then at the pop up window, right click and paste.

4. The URL you have copied from episode August 14 should be automatically appear and goes something like this.

Move your cursor to the date code,  20120814 whilst still in the pop up window.

5. Inspect the date code and change or delete 14 and retype into the date today which is 15.

6. Press OK , then the player downloads the content and you need to type in your old username and password, the usual password you use with the old website, and the video will then play. You are now watching the upload for the day although the main website has not been updated!

*** This tweak may not work every time, It will only work when the upload has been done but webmasters has not updated the site yet. This also only works whilst the old site is still live!

Do you remember the videos do not play with apple devices before? I think this is the reason why. The new player is especially enhanced for iPad and apple products.
